anyone that’s experienced i would greatly appreciate it. I’ve done lots of research before buying the piranhas, and the people at the pet store have bout as much knowledge as i do and only seem to follow the directions of their boss (who’s never around!!!! when i try to ask questions) and there isn’t alot of places where i live that sales or are even knowledgable about piranhas…. but i have 6 youngsters, about the size of a dime right now. I was advised that they are pigs…..but i don’t see it???? the guppies I used to cycle the tank before i bought the piranhas seem to be more pigs then the p’s are themselves???? literally the guppies eat more of their food than they do. the p’s take a few bites of the black or blood worms, or beefheart and that’s it. i dont feed them twice a day bc when i tried that….the second time (which was at night) they literally looked at the black worms crawl by and just swam away….. the water is clean i cycle 20% a week religiously, and the temp is about 80% give or take a degree or two. its not located by extreme lighting nor loud noises…. ne help would be great. i tried googling info on this but no sights seem to be helpful. thanks
thanks! yea literally the p’s are about the size of a dime! swear to god! the biggest one is bout the size of a nickel i wanna say? ….. the guy at the pet store said they were feeding black worms, so i bought a few of those to feed to the baby p’s….but seriously they take a few bites and that’s it, as if they’re full or something……. then the guppies gobble up the rest. i’m starting to be convinced that they are just really small right now but their appetite will improve when they get bigger. should i continue feeding 2wice aday?
Eh i don’t like piranhas…i feed them to my silver arowana
Have you tried any brine shrimp? these are the smallest piranhas I have heard of. At that size, they might be more comfortable going after smaller prey. Try feeding smaller pieces of heart. Also, what were the people you got them from feeding them? Dime size is very very small..usually any I’ve seen or brought over the years were at least the size of a fifty cent piece.
One thing, make sure the filter is rated for a bigger tank as they produce a lot of waste..even as small fry.
I wish i had more for you, but I can’t find much more then what you know and its been a few years since I kept them. so far you are doing things right..except perhaps the temp could be a degree or two lower.(but that’s my opinion)
Hopefully someone else will have more for you.Good luck!
